Horrible business. I get it ok they sell puppies. A mill in its own making. And not only that, you can get a puppy at a reasonable price of $1000…. What the f….??? So expensive. I have personally had dogs my whole life and never for a full bread had to pay that much! And to have over 30 puppies? How can two people take of that many dogs in one place? I viewed a puppy there today and the poor thing was severely dehydrated. Now for the grand finale, the owner. Hey dude own your own business, ever heard of customer service? Maybe you should take a freaking class! SO RUDE! He judged me and was pretty much like get out of my store. I have had dogs all my life and I know how to take care of them. I even have cats and they are clean and healthy.

So my advice to this guy, I had the money to buy a freaking expensive dog and that dog would have been loved and well taken care of. So learn to be a human being instead of a total d-bag!

Any customers? Never go there you can find a better puppy by a breeder elsewhere for a decent price with papers.

I will NEVER go to this business again, the animals are obviously mistreated and the owners just GOT INDICTED FOR ANIMAL TORTURE

9/4/2019

The Washoe County Grand Jury has indicted the owners of Puppies Plus and Puppy Love pet stores on multiple felony counts.

The charges against Michael Schneider and Leilani Tau-Schneider include one count of felony Torturing and/or Killing an Animal and five felony counts of Practicing Veterinary medicine Without a License.

Puppies Plus is located at 6405 S. Virginia Street #1 in Reno and Puppy Love is located at 5318 Sparks Boulevard #100 in Sparks.

The charges stem from activities from May through October 2017.

Specifically, the Indictment charges Schneider and Tau-Schneider with routinely performing or instructing their employees to perform veterinary services on dogs in their store without a consultation from a licensed veterinarian.

The Washoe County District Attorney’s Office says, in one case, they failed to provide veterinary care for a sick dog which resulted in its death.

Investigators ask, if you have any information about Puppies Plus or Puppy Love that may assist in the case, contact the Washoe County Regional Animal Services at pets@washoecounty.us

Everyone that purchased a puppy and started having vet bills after purchase date should sue the owners as a class action lawsuit. It’s happened to more than one person I can guarantee it.

Once I went to look at a shihtzu and the puppy was eating it’s poop. I instantly told the lady at the counter and she chuckled and said that’s why they call them shit sues and did absolutely nothing. I hope these terrible people get what they deserve! STOP BUYING FROM THESE PLACES.  (yes I reported them.)

Since seeing the owners are charged with a felony, I can’t express the happiness for the unethical treatment to animals and the people that saved their animals. I do feel very sad for the dogs that have died and the care they tried to provide that ended up futile. I hope the courts have enough to find the people that have submitted claims and was able to keep their pets alive by not taking them back to the owners. I hope the courts are also able to have the owners pay for all the medical expenses that many people had to fork out since they wouldn’t hold up their end of the deal keeping the pets alive purchased from either store. I hope all the pets at that the store get to go to good people since the owners couldn’t do a thing and killed who knows how many.
I cannot wait to see those stores no longer in business and hopefully some of the employees that knew what was wrong also get what’s coming to them.

I appreciate Liza T. for finally writing. It wasn’t a conversation in person, by letter or even over the phone about the puppy I purchased, but only a comment back in yelp. It wasn’t days or weeks after the purchase it was just this month! That would make it about 7 months later to say a few things.

But as you wrote, yes, Mike did write a check and send it to me quite some time later. I never had any sort of contact from either you or Mike explaining that you would reimburse me. I was only told by your former manager that you should.
Yes the NRS 574.490  Duties upon determination that pet was sold with condition that requires immediate treatment.  If a person purchases a pet from a retailer or dealer and, within 10 days after the sale, a veterinarian determines that the pet has an illness, disease or other condition that is terminal or requires immediate hospitalization or immediate surgical intervention and that was in existence on the date of the sale, the retailer or dealer shall, at the option of the purchaser, either:
1.  Refund the purchase price of the pet if the pet is returned or provide the purchaser with another pet of equal value; or
2.  Reimburse the purchaser, in an amount not to exceed the purchase price of the pet, for expenses incurred by the purchaser in obtaining a diagnosis and treatment for the pet from a veterinarian chosen by the retailer or dealer.
Even though this is a N.R.S. you would have to do as it says or lawyers would be involved as well as city and state.

With this even in your paperwork I still never had anything saying that there was going to be a reimbursement. No call or letter stating what your intentions were. So with Puppies plus not contacting me, I called my credit card company, sent them all the bills and the paperwork you provided and they agreed to reverse the charges until they got further from you with either a reimbursement check or that the charges on my card would stay reversed. You did send a check. Just a check. No explanation of what your covering or what your intentions were coving the sick dog that had over $3500.00 of medical bills on top of the purchase from you. So yes, with the credit card company knowing my intentions since you never said or acknowledged what the money was for. You only reimbursed for the cost of the dog and not all the vet bills.

As you also wrote, yes the dog stayed in my possession. She was a sick dog needing emergency care. I am in the medical field and was able to provide and continue I.V. treatments, antibiotics, respiratory care and treatment. The emergency vets are the only ones that have the items to treat dogs that have severe respiratory failure. I was able to ask my work for some items and got permission to use supplies to keep the dog alive. I talked with the veterinarian about the things I can do medically and with a continuous oxygen cage with medical grade oxygen being pumped into the cage keeping her oxygen levels stable. With being trained in the medical field they also agreed to give me the medications for me to prescribe her since they knew that I was competent in doing so. The breathing treatments that had to be administered by HHN every 4 hours with steroids and antibiotics to get her lungs healthy again. You honestly can’t tell me, unless you have medical training and a medical director that you have medical grade oxygen, the medicine to keep the dog alive. So yes I never relinquished the dog back to you as it would have been her demise.

I am weary about your apology on yelp as it should have been a call or letter. I would like to believe your goal to do what is right for the puppies but as I have stated in my first review, “She ended up being diagnosed with pneumonia and was told that she is getting tired and is in near respiratory failure. She also told us that she probably had a respiratory infection when they sold her to us. We were then told to take her to the emergency vet and insinuated it was dire. Called puppies plus and was told that they will tell the owners and get back to us. They never got back to us. We began to take her to the emergency vet for treatment as she’s getting sicker and sicker. So while at the emergency vet, trying to get ahold of an answer from puppies plus, started having treatments performed to save the dogs life since we were watching her suffer.”

Every time I came down there after talking to your manager, not once did I ever see you or your husband. Even a letter at that point to state what your intentions were. Even a sincere apology for what was going on, heck even a card for a get well for the pooch. The only reason after multiple attempts of contacting puppies plus, was my initial review with my sick dog. You manager admitted after I inquired why after several days of no returned calls, was the review on yelp. If you truly for the animals, why didn’t I get full reimbursement for all of the vet bills for your “healthy pets”?

So now on day 15 of owning a puppy from puppies plus that was sold to us with having a respiratory problem. Still have not had any reply or contact from the owners or any contact from the staff of puppies plus. They have all the paperwork of all the charges to save this puppies life. No confirmation, call or anything after day 7.

The paperwork they have you sign with even a N.R.S. number, there agreement of selling a supposedly healthy puppy and there not making any contact letting me know the status.

They have my number, they have been able to get ahold of me before. As I ponder over the amount of money, time and treatments to save the puppies life are they in it for the money? Do I have to take legal actions for them breaking their own contract? I have already contacted the credit card company to dispute this as I have not had any reply or contact again.

I have had other animal sites on Facebook, that I reached out to, for further answer and insight about puppies plus.

End of day 10. I turned all invoices to puppies plus on Wednesday for all the veterinarian bills we had. I was assured that they would get to the owners and that they would get back to me. Brooke, from earlier (?) was still highly apologetic and said that the bills would be sent to the owner including the last one that I had. I was assured that there would be something done (as stated in the paperwork) with the veterinarian bills being over $3,500 to save this puppies life and yet I haven’t had a update as of yet.

On the plus side, giving her nebulized treatments every 4 hours, including at night and wee hours of the morning, she has improved dramatically. She’s still on multiple antibiotics and breathing treatments but has been able to get out of her cage every now and then. She has finally been able to act like a puppy after her breathing treatments. She still gets winded with minor exertion and after her breathing treatments takes her naps.

4/25/2017

Update 6 days after buying from puppies plus.

To this day, our puppy that was diagnosed with pneumonia is still in the emergency vet still receiving treatments. If you saw from before, she was sold sick as she was taken to the veterinarian they recommend. Puppies plus guarantees their health, so they say. They were contacted immediately upon the health of the puppy and as sick as she was. We were assured by the lady that answered the phone at puppies plus that she had our number and we STILL haven’t heard anything from the owners.

I have contacted the credit card company and sent them the contract that puppies plus had and they agreed that it’s a breach of even their own contract. The credit company has been more compassionate than puppies plus.

While we still haven’t had any contact, will probably have to find other measures into the puppy they sold us!

4/22/2017

Just like with the others giving it 1 star. Bought a golden retriever puppy. Had her less than 48 hours and had her at the vet they recommended for the warranty and check up. My wife had to take care of getting our puppy to the veterinarian as I was away from home for work. Our puppy began to not keep her food down and started to have less energy. That vet noticed that things weren’t right with her and this was approaching the 48 hours of having her. She ended up being diagnosed with pneumonia and was told that she is getting tired and is in near respiratory failure. So while at the emergency vet, trying to get ahold of an answer from puppies plus, started having treatments performed to save the dogs life since we were watching her suffer. We were asked code status of the puppy with as severe as her respiratory failure was. Finally got through to someone and was told to bring the puppy back, there not going to pay for any treatments besides medication. Now, keep in mind if we waited this would have made her breathing difficulties worse to possible death. With puppies plus we were given the option to bring her back for replacement or refund. So, we have started treatments on this poor soul as she was brought into this world and has already made this family of adults and kids, happy to have her. As we hear how sick she is and there refusing to pay for anything besides medication. NOTHING FURTHER!! The won’t pay for what the veterinarian told us that they recommend, even with them calling about this dog being sick when they sold her to us. As for the thought of a puppy being sick and puppies plus wanting her back is withholding further treatment to bring her to them for only a refund or exchange. So as this puppy is getting treatment, what do they plan on doing? Are they going to take her to the veterinarian?? She’s already there. Getting treatment. What do they do with a dog that is severely sick? Do they rush them off to there veterinarian? The one that suggested they aren’t capable of monitoring her over the weekend? Makes you wonder what they do with them then? Do they get rid of them? Do they get treatment? So being hesitant with what to do, was going to take her back for any other suggestions. When the veterinarian that puppies plus recommends called us back to see what her status was. When we told her and that we were having minimal stuff done currently as we’re still trying to find out if we’re going to get reimbursed or what they plan on doing as she’s really sick. The veterinarian told us to come back and gave us further insight to not take her back there as she doesn’t know what will happen to this sickly puppy. After consultation from her, we took our puppy back to the emergency er to get her fully treated. Now I know there was many bad reviews on here about puppies being sick, ending up needing medications from multiple problems that others has described.
Being in the medical field knowing that not treating medical emergencies on people is against the law and can lead to permanent injury or death! With someone sick as our puppy is, needing extensive medical interventions as puppies plus is refusing to have this souls, life, properly cared for is in the end truly sickening. DO NOT BUY UNLESS YOU WANT UNCERTAIN THINGS HAPPEN TO YOUR PET!!!
I shouldn’t have gone here with researching further learning about the complaints and problems people have had. I should have gone to a reliable breeder. I should have done many things and messed up on my part. My only thing I can do now is to ask for forgiveness into helping save the life of a animal that is at the emergency vet and to inform others not to go to puppies plus.

My fiancé and I bought a 3 month old Beagle from here on Friday, June 15 around 7:00pm. Before buying our pup, I had noticed she coughed a few times in store during our payment procedure, the employee attending us had told us our pup liked to eat the paper they had in the kennels and that’s where her cough was coming from. We believed her and didn’t hesitate to think twice about it since it was a couple coughs. Later that night after bringing her home, the coughed picked up heavily. It sounded very congested and harsh. My fiancé and I were planning on taking her to get her last few shots the next morning and considered getting her a health check up if she continued coughing the next day.
The very next morning the vet informed us she had severe pneumonia and is giving her 10 days to get better or she will have to be hospitalized. They vet gave her adult medication for her pneumonia because it is so severe she needs strong medication to help her recover. The vet had exclaimed that the medication is going to stunt her cartilage growth.
My fiancé and I do not regret buying our pup. It is not our pups fault that she is in the condition she is in. But it is not fair to us as customers buying a $2,000 pup and having to make up with more finances out of OUR pocket on x-rays and medications for her health that should have been cleared in all counts before considering her for sale and exposing her with other pups from the inside and out.
We will be taking our pup Shakti to the vet for another x-ray in 3 days in hopes of hearing she will be okay. Her progress isn’t where we’d like her to be but she definitely has progressed from the first day and that’s all we could ask for, improvement.

We went in with the hopes of looking for a brand new addition to our family. The girls were acting funny and strange but we left it alone. One worker has light blue scrubs with a assortment of colored little specks or a tiny design on it with dirty blonde hair up in a bun, and the other has auburn almost brown hair cut to her shoulders which was straight and she was wearing a purple shirt.

We asked if we could see a siberian huskey and they said they were about to close and it was 6:30pm, and they didnt explain to us why just shooed us off so we let it go, about ten minutes later they let another customer take two dogs in and they were potential buyers just like we were. They werent setting a apointment to BUY it definitively, they were just looking and let her in with two dogs.

We asked why she was able to see a dog and we werent and the blonde with scrubs blew a fuse instantly saying we werent allowed because we werent buying but we explained we were and she got mad and stormed into the back and slammed the door fast, and told the brunette to come out and the brunette came oit and said “Do we have a problem?” in a snarky tone, so we said we were going to talk to the manager and she said “well yoi can get your asses out of here because we have the right to refuse anyone BYE!”

Hands down the rudest and most awful service ive ever had. I feel bad for those poor puppies, definatly not going back.

9/30/2018

I have been here three times trying to give this place the benefit of the doubt but this was the worst experience yet today on a Sunday at 10am-11:15am

For the most part, the staff there are always in a bad mood and act like they don’t want to be there and are miserable. They have a complaining spirit and if you ask them to get a puppy for you they act like you asked them to climb a mountain for you.

Today we asked what the bottom dollar is they would take for a maltese. They said they could not go lower then after talking they said they would have to ask the owner but because it was Sunday (what does it matter they are open and they are a business) they did not want to bother the owner, then they changed and said they would text the owner and came back and said $200 off but that it would not matter (at the same time the worker is doing with with a bad “i dont want to deal with this attitude”) because with the fees and paying for the chip it would still cost the same.

We asked if they could please contact the owner they they said the owner was on her way in. A woman well dressed came in and she did not give any eye contact or say hi as we were sitting in the pen with the dog. The workers were reluctant to tell us she was the owner and we had been there over an hour. Come to find out she left through the back door.

This place is like a puppy mill behind the scenes. I understand its a business but the way the dogs are treated and the fact they are there some of them over a few months they are not willing to really budge on their already high priced puppies that look miserable.

Please look at all your options before you come here.

What a garbage place. The manager was very rude and would not let me interact with the puppies I wanted to. The puppies were stuffed into tiny cages and treated like merchandise. I witnessed them soil their cages and be left in their own mess for over an hour. Puppies should never be treated this way. The employees were incompetent and knew nothing about any of the breeds. What a disappointment and a tragedy for the beautiful puppies. VERY over priced as well. I’m not one to complain, but these people suck and are ignorant.

Do not support this business. They keep puppies locked up in small confined cages, 6+ months, charge $12K for a Frenchie that is ill quality. Won’t let customers play with said puppy to give it love.
This business gets its stock from PUPPY MILLS! By supporting this business, you are supporting the inhuman treatment of animals.

Do everyone in your family a favor and don’t go near this place. I got a puppy here a month ago who is a now a huge part of our family and has cost over $600 in vet bills.  I called and talked to the “acting supervisor” and got a laundry list of everything they won’t cover in regards to vet bills.  They get their animals from puppy farms and sell sick puppies to unsuspecting families.  Please stay away from this place as they are horrible to work with, don’t care about the animals they sell and treat their customers terribly as soon as their animal is home.  Do yourselves a favor go through a breeder and stay away from here at all costs.  We love our puppy more than anything but these people are truly the epitome
of what it means to be a bad company and not care about people or animals, for Reno’s sake I hope they get shut down.

The people working here under new management are terrible. I went in to look for two puppies to take home. After looking and waiting in a line I noticed there was another girl up front on her phone not noticing me, I asked to see a dachshund and an English bulldog she took my ID and made me sign a form and then we were asked which we would like to see, I asked for my pick first. A Hispanic guy that looked like he was doing most of the work (while two girls didn’t look up from their phones behind the counter, one online shopping, one texting) said that I could not see the dachshund since he was going home soon, I said okay how about the English Bulldog (my boyfriends pick) and he said no he can’t be out. I said okay well those were the puppies I’d like to see, let me see if I’d like to see any others. I looked around again and came back without another puppy to see and asked why we could not see the English Bulldog and the guy said that the puppy was small and had been played with enough for the day. It’s disappointing that I could have possibly purchased a puppy if it were not for the people working there. Please do better

We purchased a puppy March 2017. We took our puppy to the Vet within three days. We took Our puppy for the necessary shots and follow up appointment. They took a stool sample and they said he had Giardia. We were upset because we had no clue he had this diagnosis. Our puppy had to be on medication three different times and probiotics for two months. We believed he was cured but took him back again just to check again-and he still has it. Now he is back on meds again. I am unsure how to move forward because our pet insurance may consider this pre existing. I found out that a friend also bought a dog at puppies plus and her dog has Giardia. I l
am so upset. We love our dog but feel as if we got robbed. Our dog was not cheap. Puppies Plus I believe you owe us.

10/10/2018

Went here to look at puppies this weekend and one thing was overwhelmingly clear: they are in it for the money and money alone. The dogs are kept in tiny cells that are incredibly uncomfortable for them, as they lay on shredded newspapers full of pee and poop. There’s also a big squared off metal bar that goes right down the middle along the bottom. The people weren’t really into the dogs compared to other places and seemed desperate for a sale. Not only are their dogs there up to $12,000 but the others are incredibly overpriced. Literally the only things you will find there under the $2,000 mark are the older ones they are trying to push out. And those are all $1,800 – plus tax and whatever fees I’m sure they have. And it’s STILL on the high end and overpriced most of the time. God only knows what they were originally priced at.
My wife loved one dog in particular and the average cost across the US and other who have bought them is $700. They wanted $2,600 for it. The one we would have easily walked out of there with had it not been price gouged, was a Pomsky, which range $1,000-3000 on the higher end most times. They wanted $4,600 for that one! Are you kidding me! They instantly go to the highest possible rate they can.
Tell me, Puppies Plus, what is the goal of your company, to actually find puppies a good home and cycle many through, or to price gouge the living hell out of your dogs to rip people off for a quick buck? I am very interested in an answer to that because I want to hear this logic. Good luck ever recovering your business rating from a vast majority of 1-star reviews.

P.S. when the Pomsky doesn’t sell because of your obnoxious prices and it goes on sale for less than $2,000. Let me know and I’ll rescue it from you all.

10/8/2018

Not a reputable store. They have their pups all extremely overpriced and kept in cages 6+ months. That should be considered abuse. One Frenchmen pup is listed at $12k. Bet her mom is kept as a puppy mill and tossed to the side when they’re done with her. These people don’t care about the animals, just about their own greed. This place needs to be shut down ASAP and these animals given GOOD homes.

===============================================

===============================================

10/10/2018

Wish you could give a negative rating. They are selling sick puppies and keeping puppies in cages for over 6 months because they won’t reduce the exorbitant price ($12,000) for a French bulldog. Regardless of color, no animal should be kept in a cage without socialization, medical care, and training. They’re setting the poor pup up for failure and potential euthanasia down the road. Disgraceful!!

10/26/2015

I bought my dog from here a year ago while I was on vacation at reno.

I felt really bad because a lot of dogs in shelter needed a home too but I just couldn’t help it.

I saw a cute 3 month old white Shiba Inu on sale and I’ve never seen a white one before and he was just so playful and sweet. I instantly fell in love with him.

The girl and boy was very nice and talked me through the purchasing progress. Bought him . got his medical files. done and dealt with. Got him home. Even thing seems fine….

He was missing his last PV and rabbi shot so I immediately made an appointment to get his last shot. When I got to the vet, they told me they couldn’t give him his shot. Why? Because he had kennel cough, giardia, underweight and dehydrated.

I was very concern and annoyed. I didn’t hesitate to get him fixed up but I was really unhappy about this. Giardia and kennel cough is contagious. I can only imagine how many other of their puppies could be infected. As well as knowing that a lot of the puppies are in cages next to each other and some can have a few of them at the same cage.

Another thing is people probably won’t expect the extra $$$ to spend on getting the dog healed up. Because of these illness, I wanted to do a double check on his medical history. The vet that the owner brings them doesn’t kept records (I called and double checked) of the puppies being sold here. So once they get checked up (if they even) that’s all. I also checked the breeders information. My breeder was not registered with AKC. Neither did it turn out my supposed “purebred” Shiba Inu turned out to be a purebred at all.

Since they sold me a supposedly pure breed Shiba Inu, I expected to have all the paperworks in check. Sadly they were not. I contcted the owner about my concerned. He said he would compensate me for my troubles. After a few emails and replies, why is it that every-time when I forward the bill or fax it over, he never receives it? After months of trying I just accepted that it just wasn’t going to happen.

I love my dog. He’s been such a positive influence in my life. But it hurts only imagining what he went through.

Horrible experience adopting what was supposed to be a top notch English Bulldog from a good bloodline.  Supposedly the owner bought him to breed him and then his wife said no so they were selling it…for a small fortune.  We fell in love with him (we weren’t even looking to buy a dog).  Took him home and that night he was congested and rattling in his chest.  Took him to the vet the next day.  They did x-rays and he was developing pneumonia and had a collapsing trachea (a result of bad breeding, for the most part).  His trachea opening was .2 cm and the prognosis was not good.  We took him back to the store and they took him back, claiming they were going to send him back to the breeder in So. Carolina.  I then did some research on the breeder (which I should have done to begin with) and he was all over the internet for puppy milling.  The experience was traumatic for my family, especially my son and we were out over $400 in expenses including the vet bills.  This puppy had just had a clean vet check too from their vet – the don’t do an extensive in depth check and then clear them for adoption.  Do your research and don’t ever buy from Puppies Plus (they also own Puppy Love in Sparks).  We are heartbroken over the experience and for the fate of this puppy but couldn’t keep him.  If he was able to have surgery to correct it at a later age, that surgery runs over $10,000 and isn’t very successful.  Buy from reputable breeders if you are going for a purebred.

Beware!! I bought an American bulldog puppy from here and we took it to the vet right after. She had giardia. They say that if anything is wrong they will pay for the bill. I paid 300 for that visit. They sent me a check for $6!!! Pffft..and here we are a year and a half later at the vet because her stomach has issues. They did an xray and she has hip dysplasia and beginning of arthritis at 1.5 years!! Our vet said that her issues are due to poor breeding and as we speak I’m paying 3 grand for surgery!! Shame on yall for selling poor bred (and sick) pups!

DO NOT BUY A PUPPY FROM HERE, DON’T EVEN GO INTO THE SHOP!!  The puppies are sick, mistreated, and the staff are horrible to them.  This shop needs to be shut down and all puppies confiscated!

The lady running around with I piercing on her face is easily the rudest person I have ever spoken with. She’s extremely judgmental and seems to have little value for customer service. She didn’t care to answer my questions without an awful look on her face and a terrible attitude. Don’t buy here…. This place should even be legal really? Many of the puppies look sick and un cared for. When I asked “where the puppies go if they are not sold before they get too big for these cages” she replied with “we don’t have that issue” so all in all…. I would like to know where they go still…  because we all know you aren’t selling $2,000 – 5,000 puppies consistently enough to never have a turn over.

This place is horrible because of course you fall in love with puppies! But BEWARE if you decide to buy one here, know that they come from puppy mills even when they tell you they do not! Puppy mills are cheap for them to get puppies and most of them will most likely be sickly or have a hereditary disorder, because puppy mills don’t care!
Long story short I fell in love with a shihtzu and he was “on sale” because he was older, 5 months. We took our puppy to the vet with the recommended 3 days, and come to find out he has Entropion, which is a disorder in which the eyelid is rolled inward against the eyeball . And with out treatment could lead to blindness, and is painful for the dog. Surgery is going to cost about 900-1500.
The vet also said that, the way the shots were lengthen out there is no way he could of gotten them like that and most likely needs a booster.
When my bf went to the store to confront someone, they told him “I don’t see anything wrong with him and if I were you I just wouldn’t get the surgery it’s not needed. It’s just tear stains.” Then proceeded to give him something that was “food”, and also expired in 2014!
I could have found a local breeder and got a cheaper dog but I fell in love with this one and didn’t want him to go to another family. I knew the price to pay and now I am paying for it. While they laugh with money in their pockets. Just avoid! Please.

Do not buy a puppy here! They all come from puppy mills and most have kennel cough. They are over priced as well. Was looking for a Westie pup and they were trying to sell a male for $1900, he looked sick and could barely see from all of the green gunk in his eyes, really? Ended up buying a little girl for $1500 who grew up on a farm and was healthy. If you want a certain breed I recommend looking up a breeder near by with the breed you are looking for. you will most likely have to pay the same or less for the puppy and it will be healthy.

The business owner of Puppies Plus has reimbursed us a hundred percent of our vet bills we incurred from the kennel cough and pneumonia that Patrick got from the pet store and or the breeder who he came from. The owner was very polite and went above what the Nevada law requires him to do. Lisa and I both gave him some suggestions on how he could better his business. The end result is that there are silent victims out there in pet stores Across the Nation and this happens in them also. Ask questions be aware and more importantly don’t shop, adopt.

An update on the puppy we bought at this store.  After being diagnosed with kennel cough by the vet the store recommended, our puppy became worse, and had to be rushed to Baring Vet this Saturday. Patrick was barely moving.  He’s on IV fluids and antibiotics. He has pneumonia. I have faith in Baring Vet that he will have the best of care.
I am going to call Puppies plus on Monday, they will have no choice but to pay for all of this.

Absolutely worst place to buy a puppy.  Over priced sick puppy mill dogs.  The city needs to shut this place down.  Untrained workers, sick neglected dogs.  You are crazy if you buy  a dog from this place or Puppies Plus in Sparks.

Was sold a Shiba Inu puppy and within hours she was sick with diarrhea and blood in her poop. Took her to the vet immediately to learn she has a massive amount of parasites. Manager at the store even said she had witnessed my puppy eating poop. One of the first signs  of a parasite. There’s no way they didn’t know she was sick. Her infection was labeled severe and it was 2 different types of parasites. These parasites are not only contagious to other dogs but HUMANS as well. They told me they will not pay for the treatments and testing even though they sold me a dog that was sick before I bought her. This poor baby is lucky to have been taken home because who knows what would have happened to this poor baby girl if I didn’t.

Worst customer service of my life.

Went in about 2 months ago (I’m not exaggerating this time line) to look for a female Bichon Frise.  We have a male Bichon (that is fixed) that we wanted to have a companion for.  We love our dog (and the Bichon breed) and wanted to extend our furry family.

Which brings me to this review… Buying a puppy should be a POSITIVE experience.  This was not.

When we came in 2 MONTHS ago, we saw a Bichon puppy that looked a little shabby (I’m not gonna lie) but we thought it was cute.  I went up to the counter, talked to some teenager (that’s the age level of who runs this place) and applied to Wags Lending (Pet Financing).  Once the approval went through and as they were getting ready to give us the puppy, they then notified me that it was a MALE, not female.  That would’ve been helpful information prior to getting attached to the puppy, playing with it, getting my children’s hopes up and applying for the pet financing – but whatever. (We cannot get another male dog, as it would send our other dog into an alpha male frenzy with pee all over the house).

Which brings me to the nail in the coffin with this place.  After finding out that the dog was a male, the girl at the counter notified me that I could special order a female Bichon within 2 WEEKS at the latest.  So we placed an order, was assured that the dog was ordered and went on our merry way.

It has been 6 WEEKS, multiple frustrated calls and absolutely no customer service to where this mysterious puppy is.  No one has been able to help me.  I have left multiple messages for the owner, store manager… SOMEONE to answer me the simple question “are we getting a puppy or not”?

I have yet to receive a phone call or any answers.  Today, I finally and completely cancelled the order (if there was ever one) and had to let my little 4 year old daughter know that her puppy will not be coming home with us.  She cried for an hour and now I’m made out to be a liar.

Great job Puppies Plus.  I would think that there would be a certain level of customer service for a $1600 dog.  I thought wrong.  Note to owner: you need to hire front desk representatives beyond the age of 16 to represent your company.

Purchased our puppy from these people. Expensive dog.  She had a really bad case of Giardia.  I took her to the vet for a checkup when I got home with her and they did a stool sample, then she went thru several stool tests and  medications over a couple of months. Thank God she is finally healthy.  I did a check on who the breeder was, and it turns out that they had many, many violations and got many citations.  Apparently Puppies Plus doesn’t check on the breeders that they purchase their puppies from.

Veterinarian of our own confirmed that out puppy came from a Midwest puppy mill. She was 1800. Had a terrible case of kennel cough. We didn’t think she would make it although she is healthy now. Dog bills w total cost of purchase price and vet bills is about 2100.00.
If you have the money I would recommend buying a dog here but for the cost I wish we would above found a local breeder or breeder in the surrounding states around us and made the trip.
They are nice but my dog came w a lot of problems. Ear infection so bad the vet says if it continues the trait is hereditary so it’s suggested we don’t breed her. With the price of 1800 we had planned on it.
All though the customer service was okay while we were there… Once the purchase has been made you get all kinds of complications thrown at you concerning your dogs health.
We stayed up nights w her to make sure she didn’t cough herself to death. And our vet appointment today cost 125.00.
I truly wish we went somewhere else as the dogs bark so much there and they bring that home also. Our dog barks so much and it’s deafening.

I walked in too look at there puppies and immediately knew that the puppies are WAAAYYYY over priced! Didn’t have either of the two employees greet me and I decided(more for myself) that the cages that the puppies were in were too small.
I know that a couple of the other puppy shops are now out of biz due to mistreatment of the puppies. I’m not saying that this place is Mia treating them, just hoping that they are treated well is all.
Regardless $1300 is reduce loud for a golden retriever. I have gotten then in the past for $400 haha.
I pull not recommend this biz for anyone looking for a puppy unless your willing to spend WAAAYYY too much.

DO NOT BUY puppies from this place. We would not trade our dog for anything but I believe this place is full of extremely over priced inbred dogs. We were told not to buy from this place and of course went against it and paid $2400 for a dog that has nothing but issues. Again, we love him more than anything but purchased a “purebred” mastiff. He’s mis proportionate and has multiple issues. Please listen to me when I say DO NOT under any circumstance buy from this place. Talk to others that have bought puppies here, they all have the same opinion.

The pricing is crazy 2,400 for a mixed puppy from a puppy mill it’s just crazy the cost on these dogs is crazy and I have a friend that got a dog from here and that dog got extremely sick I think they need to take care of their dogs more and pay more attention to stuff the place is a scam and a rip off .

We purchased two dogs from this company with in the last year and we’re looking to add a third member to our family & probably would have walked out with one today if it wasn’t for you’re less than helpful, judgmental girls at the counter. When we asked to see a dog to dog the snobby blonde girl stated she didn’t need someone to play with the dogs, and said she wouldn’t show it to us if we couldn’t afford it, as a loyal customer who has spent THOUSANDS of dollars in your store of the past year we probably will not come back.

Adopted our black German Shephard puppy there over a year ago and according to our vet because they had her stuck in such a small pen (the size used normally for small to medium pups) for weeks, they successfully broke her ears to where they could (and never have) stood up straight. This causes our poor baby frequent and painful ear infections. Now we believe the countless people and professional vets as well as vet techs people whom warned us about this place once they saw our baby.

I am still going to leave a bad review for Puppies Plus.  They have a very bad ‘Manager In Training’ that lies with every word that comes out of her mouth.  She knows nothing about the dogs.  Which is sad.  If you work in a place like that, you need to do your research.  To have the M.I.T. tell me that the puppy I wanted to purchase had ‘sawdust’ cough was the icing on the cake.  No, wait, the breaching of their contract was.  Sorry, I had a down payment and they refused to sell me the puppy due to her kennel cough. As soon as I put the puppy down, kennel cough. Ok, not the first time. ‘Lauren’ tried to tell me it was ‘sawdust’. Hmmmm, a puppy with sawdust cough. Tried looking that up…1st lie. Then she proceeds to tell me that she is sending the puppy to the vet that night, July 31st. 2nd lie. She told me the puppy went on Tuesday morning. 3rd lie. She told me that the VET said the puppy had to stay there 3 or 4 days. 4th lie. So the third day I went by the vets place to see if I could find my puppy. Low and behold there was NO PUPPY!!!! Gave them the microchip number…NEVER seen that puppy!!!! 5th lie. Go over back to the store and ask where my puppy was that I had put a down payment on. Oh and btw, I had given her one amount, she wrote a higher amount on the contract.6th lie. Lucky I’m honest. So one of the gentlemen working there asked why I was so upset. Told him the story and he went in the back to talk to the owners wife. He comes back out and Mike’s wife then calls ‘Lauren’ and she takes the phone call in the back so I can’t here what she says about me or the puppy. Which, I never saw again. But she came back out and said ‘WE’ have decided we don’t want you to have our puppy. Then mumbled something under her breath. The contract clearly stated ALL SALES ARE FINAL….NO REFUNDS. Yet, they broke their own contract for no apparent reason because Mike’s wife, nor Mike ever asked me what was going on to get both sides of the story. So be careful of that Manager In Training, she will lie about everything pertaining to the puppies in the store and obviously about a customer wanting to buy one of their puppies. Please go directly to…ummmmm….nobody? Because nobody cares. They are putting their trust into a young girl with piercings who knows nothing about the puppies and lies to your face. Which I’m sure she lied through the entire phone call with Mike’s wife. I have constantly told people how much the store has changed for the better. And it did when Will was a manager. The puppies were never sick.  Part of this was the original post.  Can’t believe someone doesn’t want to hear the truth.  I took out the parts Yelp had in question, which was fair.  They are still putting their faith into a liar, who knows nothing about the dogs.  Please do your research before finding a breed you like.  I have found a much healthier puppy from a reputable breeder that does not have ‘sawdust’ cough….I mean kennel cough.

I purchased my puppy from Puppies Plus in May. I feel it’s my responsibility to share my family’s horrible experience.  We bought a super sweet and adorable Goldendoodle and he became very ill within days of being home with us. Not only did he have kennel cough like several other reviews here have mentioned THEIR puppies had, but he also had a severe viral infection for which he was hospitalized overnight and the vet was very concerned.  The vet said the virus’ incubation period was before he came into our home. Not only that. ….. he infected another dog in our home with kennel cough so we racked up MORE vet bills.

After playing phone tag with the owner Mike for several days and arguing over what was on the vet bills he finally agreed to pay for most of the bills and I got a check. Quite frankly I was shocked he agreed to pay as I know he has a terrible BBB rating but I think he was tired of dealing with me and wanted me to go away.  He probably made no profit off my dog after paying me around  $500 in vet bills.

I also need to mention I did a lot of research on my dog’s breeder that was listed on his paperwork and he definitely came from a puppy mill. It makes me sick to know I purchased a puppy mill dog but he was clearly meant to be with my family and lead a life full of love and affection.

Please people. …… don’t buy dogs from this store. I’ve learned my lesson and will NEVER purchase an animal again from a pet store.

My husband surprised me with an adorable frenchie I fell in love with the day prior. Mind you she’s beautiful but def wasn’t 100 % healthy. We took her to the recommended vet to stay in warranty she not only had to be put on meds asap for kennel cough but also had  an intestinal parasite giardia, and also had never had her poor frenchie ears cleaned because they were black and filthy. She has been on meds almost a week now and is going back for her checkup tomorrow. They only reimburse for the meds so they say not any testing or vet visits. I’m sure she will need more meds as the giardia is not easy to get rid of and I’ll be having to pay for all future testing out of pocket. I also researched the place she was born and purchased from and indeed they were a questionable puppy mill. I would not recommend this place unless you don’t mind paying a lot of money for a puppy who will be needing vet attention.

Adorable puppies so of course we couldn’t leave without taking one home, come to find out our puppy was sick with kennel cough. Plus, the vet that they make you take your dog to is a creep. I felt cheated, like they were just trying to get more $ out of me and the vet even tried to take my 2 year old daughter to the back to show her the ‘puppies’ but he didn’t want me to go, he wanted to meet me in the lobby. Freaking weird. Also, when we first met our pup he was coughing up white foamy spit and when we asked why she said it was because he had just eaten which is why they usually don’t take them out right after they have eaten but she did for us.

I went to Puppies Plus to look at a puppy that someone had told me about. I went in and the staff was friendly. I asked to see the puppy and his papers. Not knowing where this puppy had come from I wanted to make sure it wasn’t from a puppy mill before taking him home.  The employee brought out the puppy and showed us his papers.

The puppy was extremely excited to be out of his kennel (with no padding in it). After visiting with the puppy I noticed he was sneezing. He looked in decent condition but I wanted to research the puppy’s background to make sure he was from good, solid breeding lines. I found out (very easily I might add)  he is from a well known puppy mill that had lost it’s license from the USDA for poor conditions. It was after that that I decided this was too much of an unknown to take him. Sadly, there were many puppies there – how many of them are from similar circumstances/sources?…

This will not be a good review.. I just bought my puppy on 2-26-2017 thinking yes I got a new puppy! Cutest thing I have ever seen. I had to just get him, so my husband and I did.. little did we know that he was sick. Took him to the recommended vet, on 3-3-2017. For just a regular check up, they gave him his second set of shots. I thought it would all be okay, he lost all energy, lost his appetite, got diarrhea, has been puking. All over the weekend.. took him back Monday 3-6-2015, and he was diagnosed with kennel cough. I was told by the vet at all animal creatures that after we give him the medication he would be up and about again, and eating.. he is having a hard time breathing now. Talked to the animal emergency room, and boom he has ammonia! What kind of pet shop are you running!! In order to get him healthy I’m looking at spending 2000 dollars. Who has that kind of money laying around? We haven’t even had him 10 days? Do you even take care of the puppies? They are sick!!he passes away this morning. I went back to puppies plus and the owners were very understanding of the situation. And gave me the money back for him. They even paid for his cremation! Just make sure if you get a puppy from here get a second vet opinion. Unfortunately the vet that is recommended is not that great. Dynomight could have had a chance to live, but it’s okay. He is in a better place..

I am disgusted and appalled with Puppies Plus! I purchased my “AKC purebred” this summer. She is chronically ill and has been fighting a loosing battle. I spent thousands on her and thousands on vet bills. She had kennel cough, a virus, 4 types of parasites and now has permanent damage to her colon resulting in chronic diarrhea; oh and she still has parasites because she won’t stop eating her poop.  She will lay in her poop and pee, and consume them both regularly. Her life is tragic and I am doing everything I can to nurse her back to health.  These animals are living creatures who depend on us to care for them. We cannot support animal cruelty by supporting puppy mills by supporting puppy stores.

For a business, this is poorly run.  Three girls stood at the front counter talking like a group of high-schoolers making for awkward interactions with customers.

To interact with a puppy, they want to copy your ID “because they have a lot of thefts???  There has to be a better way.  since there is only one door, have one of the clerks monitor that.

I dont appreciate your condescending bs brooke :).

I’m glad you stand by your crap ass employees, and your terrible business but here’s my thing, I’m not a quiet person, I walked in, loudly exclaimed “look at the puppy” and walked up to pet him. In the 2-3 minutes I was petting him someone could have said something, dog owner included, no one did though. They just stared and watched me pet away and exclaim how cute, boo for him having that owner… dragging him by his fore legs, for shame. But what really gets on my nerves is the treatment we were afforded, we were there as a CUSTOMER, do not follow us around and treat us like criminals. We did nothing to warrant that treatment and yet one of your employees was glued to our backs the entire time, we were dressed well and open, what was the reason? Honestly it was stereotyping towards me, racist towards my boyfriend, and rude all the way around. I was so embarrassed because I told boyfriend that your place had adorable puppies and good prices on the dog food we buy as well as a nice, professional staff. Good job proving me wrong and ruining any chance of getting mine or my friends/families business.

The first time I came in here the girl was nice. I was looking for a new place to buy food for my dog after Greens feed decided that it was worth it to treat me like crap for asking a simple question about the difference in amount of food vs the price. I came in again last week to show my boyfriend the animals because even though we always adopt they’re still cute.

They had a rottweiler puppy in the play area who was very sweet and friendly and I started petting him. One of the girls behind the counter snapped at me to use hand sanitizer before touching the dogs. I looked at her, stopped petting the puppy and put hand sanitizer on my hands. Immediately after, someone else walked in, pet the dog and then dragged him out of the play area roughly without hand sanitizer and was not admonished for it. (Maybe it’s because I have visible tattoos and facial piercings, wouldn’t be the first time I have been judged.)

We were followed around the store the entire time by the staff like we were criminals looking to steal things, and we came in while cages were being cleaned in the back. It seems they don’t have extra cages to put the dogs in because they were doubled and tripled up and one cage had two dogs picking on a third- literally tearing the poor thing apart. You could easily hear them through the glass but they were being ignored by the staff, we tried to tell them the dogs should be separated and their answer? To put their fucking noses in the air and say “Oh no that’s just how they play.” Sure, I haven’t owned dogs and puppies my entire life, I haven’t broken up fights between them and I’ve never had to separate dogs or watch dominance displays. The blood coming out of that puppy should have been an indicator for them, not jist rhe sounds the pooe thing was making. The absolute lack of professionalism on the part of the staff and judgement we received sickens me.

My dog is a power chewer and needs new toys every few months and goes through a big bag of dry food around the same time, I can easily drop $100-200 a visit, I’ll never come to this store again, not only do they not give a DAMN about the customers who walk through their door, but they don’t care about the animals in their care either.

******WARNING*********

Please review closely before you purchase a puppy from Puppies Plus

I was very excited to go into Puppies Plus today and look at female Shiba Inu ($1600). When I walked into the store, there was one other customer in the store currently buying a puppy. None of the employees or manager even acknowledged that I came in, it was like I was invisible. I walked to the back and started looking at the puppy I’d come in to see. I had to ask three employees to get her for me before I was finally about to hold her. After awhile of playing with her, I gave her back to an employee and walked up to the front counter.

The manager was at the front counter. I asked him if I could please see the paperwork on the puppy (I wasn’t about to pay $1600 for a puppy without confirming the papers). He started to walk away from me and said “I’m busy right now. I have to go talk to the vet. You are going to have to wait.” I was shocked how rude he was to me, a customer trying to spend over $1700 after taxes in his store!

After a few minutes, he walked back over to the counter and pulled out a yellow envelope with the puppy’s pedigree in it. He placed the pedigree on the counter and walked away, at no point did he say anything to me. After reviewing the pedigree which was from ACA not AKC, I googled the breeders information. To my shock and horror, the breeder (Steve Kruse) was a known puppy mill owner with serveral current lawsuits for selling sick and inbred puppies!

At this point I realized this was a bad company to purchase a puppy from. Between the poor customer service and the fact he was about to sell me a ACA puppy from a puppy mill that already had a huge list of lawsuits. I left the store without the manager or any employees coming back to help me

I hope that owner rots. He is a terrible person. Made me feel bad because the dog I was viewing threw up and claimed he would never sell me a dog. BS.  Think about it people, do you want a poor puppy that has even locked in a cage with high possibilities that he could be sick? And the price was overly expensive.

This man should lock himself in a cage and never expose himself to the human race. I am a professional manager in a casino, and to judge me? Listen owner, I will tell everyone I know to never come to your store and how horrible of a person you are. I’ll save everyone the hassle of dealing with you.  Best wishes to your puppies.

I HIGHLY advise you avoid this place at all costs. Not because of the manager Will, who is very friendly, or the facility, which is clean and doesn’t smell anymore than a place housing a wide variety of so many puppies should smell. I would avoid this place simply because of the quality of the animals they provide, the owner, who obviously doesn’t care which breeder or what the living conditions are of the puppies he sells, and the “non contracted veterinarian” they force you to use. The owner of this business used to work with Joe Young, the guy who had his pet store in Meadowood mall shut down last year for selling sick puppies. This owner is in the business to make a quick buck and doesn’t give a damn about you or your purchase once you’re out of the store (I’m sure this is the reason he won’t comment of these reviews, but instead has Will do it). Let me say, this is a specialty store and if you think you’re going to get a puppy for a cheap deal, you’re very wrong! That being said, patrons of this store are aware of that and shouldn’t complain about that aspect.

However, when you purchase such a high priced dog, you expect the dog to be healthy. I bought a GSD from Puppies Plus on a Sunday. I then was forced to take him to Mrs Adams at All Creatures within three days to validate his health warranty, so we did. According to Mrs. Adams, the GSD pup was perfectly healthy despite having horrific diarrhea everyday since he came home with us. The diarrhea she said, was attributed to “stress” and the puppy being in a new environment. Well, B.S! After seeing the family veterinarian THAT SAME DAY, the dog was diagnosed with Giardia, a parasite that causes severe diarrhea. Exactly one week later, a Sunday, the dog was in the Emergency Vet because he was having a hard time breathing, and it was Pneumonia caused by Kennel cough. All in all this beautiful $1,700 GSD cost me an additional $650 in veterinary expenses because he was sold sick. After reading all the reviews, I now see this is a common practice of this pet store.

I’m not pissed off anymore as the dog is now healthy and means the world to my family, especially my son. I am writing this review simply so this crap doesn’t happen to another family. I have already filed a complaint with the Nevada State Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners regarding “Dr.” Adams and her treatment of the puppy. By the way, Mrs. Adams has been disciplined by this board 5 times since her license became active. I now intend to file a complaint with the State of Nevada Animal Control Board regarding Puppies Plus and their knowing distribution of sick pupppies to consumers, which is illegal. Please stay away from this place of business. You will regret it, but by the time you do, the puppy will have already stole a place in your heart and you will have no choice but to pick up the slack of this disgusting store. Will, please don’t make any smart ass or condensing little comments. I don’t think you want to get caught up in where this complaint most certainly will go. You’re a nice guy and I’m sure are just doing your job. You can’t help that your boss is a slime ball and disgusting business man.

Awful awful place!!! Those poor pups locked in crates way too small for more than one puppy and some of them are malnourished. Poor babies. They don’t even have water bowls, they have rabbit bottles!! I literally sat in my car and cried after leaving this place.

My husband and I obviously did not do our research. We purchased a puppy in March 2014. We recently found out that the breeder, Will Yoder is a puppy mill owner, and has as many bad reviews as this pet store.  2 days after bringing home our puppy, he developed a terrible sneeze and cough, which a local vet diagnosed as kennel cough. Harold assured me he would reimburse us for the cost of the vet bills as he sold us a sick puppy; this seems to be a theme for Puppies Plus. Harold has yet to reimburse us, three months later. I did not know stores like this got puppies from mills like the ones I have recently read about. Please caution before you pay too much for a puppy and support these horrific mills.

DO NOT PURCHASE PUPPIES FROM THIS STORE!!!! This store needs to be shut down!!!! not only is the owner a douche bag but he also sells sick puppies. After purchasing two puppies from this store, 2 days after bringing them home they caught a severe case of kennel cough with diarrhea and vomiting and the owner refused to flip the vet bill we had to pay for. We returned to the store and let him know what was going on and he said the symptoms on the dogs were completely “normal”, since when is it normal for green thick snot coming from their nose and severe dehydration with vomit and diarrhea normal??
If you walk into this store take a close look at these puppies before walking out with one, you will notice most of those dogs already have a small case of kennel cough with snot coming from there nose and severely dehydrated, these puppies are sick, help get this store shut down!!!

I was told by ‘Harold’ that if I bought a “defective puppy” I could return it to swap it out with another one!  What the hell?!?  What does the store do with a defective puppy?  Does it knowingly sell it again, put the dog down, or what?  Don’t the puppies at least see a vet to determine their health before peeps pay hundreds to over a thousand dollars for one?  I would rather pay less than a hundred dollars on a rescue dog that will appreciate a new home and not finance creepy people like Harold.  See you soon, ASPCA, or even one of the local pure breed rescue groups in the Reno/Tahoe area.

My husband and I bought our (over-priced) puppy from this location a few months ago, and I can remember like it was yesterday how disappointed I was with the complications we had.

Not even a few days after bringing puppy home, she developed a bad case of kennel cough… so my husband and I took her to our vet to be treated. When we confronted the owner on this issue he not only refused to help us pay the fairly steep vet bill, but also bashed our choice of vet repetitively  (who had come highly recommended, and who we’ve NEVER had any problem with). When asked who he would suggest we take her to, he said he was in-between vets and couldn’t say.

After much hassling and returns to the pet store, the owner finally agreed to repay us by helping with a quarter of the bill, which he payed in dog food. I found the owner to be very unprofessional, (not giving us important and mandatory forms, giving a very rude attitude, bashing and insulting our choice of veterinary, and for the overall state of the location)

When I first walked out of that store without a puppy, I cried, because I couldn’t imagine leaving a puppy in the cramped cages they were stored in with wide-open wire bottoms to lay on, and the occasional banging from the cleaning brush the owner used to clean the feces with…. our dog is still very afraid of any kind of banging noise (like slapping the couch to invite her up, she flinches and runs away).

I will not only never return to this location, but I doubt I will ever step foot in another puppy store so long as I live just based on my experience with Puppies Plus.

Please do yourself a favorite and don’t go here!!!  Walked in ready to get our little girl a dog… We walked in at 6:10ish asked if we could see one of their dogs waited for almost 20 mins just so the guy running the store didn’t want to take one of the dogs out because they were getting ready to close! 25 mins left till closing and they didn’t wanna show us a dog!! BROUGHT THE WHOLE FAMILY JUST FOR THIS A-hole to tell us that!!!

I bought some tropical fish here a while back. Turned out they had “hole in the head” disease, and died. The people were nice, but I would never buy a dog from here, or to be fair, from anywhere else for that matter.  A sick fish is a minor thing, but a sick dog is a money pit, in addition to the money pits that even healthy dogs are!

This place doesn’t even deserve a star. My brand new puppy I just purchased has Giardia and is really sick. I’ve only had her for 5 days. And we are already having to spend over $200 on vet bills. My puppy contracted it from the pet store and she’s not the only one. More pets purchased the same time as mine have also reported the same thing! They are selling sick puppies and not caring about it! She is also at risk of kennel cough. When I went in there the place seemed clean but the dogs are put into small kennels sharing the food there’s no doubt that it has probably already spread through the pet store. More are going to get sick and there’s no argument to the manager he doesn’t care. The warrant you sign makes it to where they really aren’t responsible for anything. Stop buying these puppies there are cheaper more healthier ones around.

I would not even give this business a one if the option had been available. The conditions were clean however you need to look beyond that. Dogs are in small cages with no bedding at all. The manger presents himself as knowing more than a vet. It appears that most if not all are from badly run puppy mills. He has no compassion for his animals.
Against my advise a family member purchased a dog from there . I went with them when they went to this business. They were very pleased with the puppy for two days. Then the puppy started to vomit and have diarrhea .  Took to their vet as required. They misdiagnosed the issue even after taking a bloody stool sample. Took the dog to my vet. They knew exactly what the problem was. Well $3000.00 later we had a dog that we still  were not sure was going to live. Thankfully she did. Contacted the business and told them what happened. His first response was bring the dog back and we will  euthanize and you can get another. I guess he feels dogs are disposable not a life time commitment as they should be. After much debate he did give them the cost of the dog back. When we advised him that most likely he had other sick dogs and he should notify the other dogs owners he said they will call me if they get sick. Terrible customer service in all ways. I can’t believe he has not been shut down. He definitely has a bad reputation around town. Only wish my family member would have done her research. I will sum this up by saying BUYER BEWARE. Their are so many dogs in need already. Don’t buy a dog from a puppy store. Adopt from your local rescue/humane society.

I purchased a Labrador puppy from this store about one month ago.  I took the puppy to my vet for routine vaccines and was asked by vet to provide a stool sample from my puppy to check for parasite. I was contacted by my vet and was told my puppy has two different parasites,  both of which are infectious to humans. I am six months pregnant and have a 22 month old at home and was told by my vet that everyone in my household should be tested for parasites. I went back to the pet store and spoke with the manager about this situation. He was very RUDE and unsympathetic to the situation. He argued with my husband that the parasites were our fault. The pet store refuses to take the puppy back or refund any money. All I can say is DO NOT BUY puppies from this store! They sell sick animals.

Do not go to Puppies Plus.  I bought a Rottweiler on the 22nd of December.  After a day, my wife and I realized the dog was severely sick.  She had a really bad cough and runny nose.  She wasn’t eating nor playing with the other animals.  So far I’ve spent $600 in vet bills and there’s still more yet to come.  Anothr thing; the owner told me this was a German rottweiler, when it is ctually American.  He charged me $1800 for this dog… Too expensive.

The workers are lazy and wont let anyone hold the puppies unless you are a serious buyer. 🙁 These are ALL PUPPY MILL DOGS!! They won’t even telk you where they get the dogs from. I would give this store zero stars, but I won’t let me. PLEASE REPORT THIS STORE TO THE ANIMAL CONTROL.

HORRIBLE!!! My husband and I went in one day with no intention of buying a pup until we saw a beautiful Siberian Husky and fell in love. She was originally $1,500 YIKES right?! Well the owner Mike said “I’ll give you a deal, $500 bucks off” We agreed and did the leasing thing. It was made clear that the dog would be 1,000. When I called to make the first payment come to find we have to pay TWO GRAND for this dog! We have called several times to speak to the owner but can never get hold of him. This is ridiculous 100% interest?!?! Not to mention when we got her she had kennel cough and had surgery for a hernia. Two days of being home she had explosive diarrhea, we took her to the vet and they said it was a stomach infection she had before coming home with us. The diarrhea went on for almost a month on and off. She was on several antibiotics and of course the bills we so high. This place is a total rip off and I warn you to stay away!

Stopped in here the other day to check out their supplies and dog treat options. I personally would NEVER buy a puppy from a puppy store and neither should you. NO responsible ethical breeder would ever sell their puppies to a store. Responsible ethical breeders want to know who is taking their puppy home. These employees don’t know anything and in fact gave me completely incorrect information regarding I breed I was discussing.

PLEASE do not buy your puppy at a pet store, any pet store. If you can’t or won’t find a rescue dog, please research responsible breeders.

I’m embarrassed to admit I even went into this place. But my daughter needed a puppy fix and I figured it’s good for the dogs, so win-win, right?  Well there is no winning for these sweet pups. There were two to a cage that’s about 4 x 4 feet with a glass front. The shavings were fresh, it looked clean but not one single cage had water. None!  Dogs should have 24/7 access to water.
And a mixed breed for $2,000?  What person does that?
We’ll go to the Humane Society for our puppy fix in future. They’re Humane there

A few people finally convinced me to do this review.  It’s been a year and a half since I purchased our puppy from Puppy Love in Sparks, NV.
First mistake:  Buying a puppy from a store.
First excuse:  My husband is severely allergic to animals, so I had to get a hypoallergenic dog.(In my defense, he actually is not allergic to our dog).
Second excuse: I just took the kids in to look at the puppies
Third excuse:  We couldn’t help falling in love with our Lhasa Apso.

Second mistake: We used the financing through their store, Easypay finance.
Fourth excuse: I should have went home and told my husband I wanted the puppy. He probably would have said okay and purchased the puppy, but why take the chance?

Third mistake:  Taking Puppy Love employees at their word, and not reading the contract.  The contract is sent to your email. I opened it and she was nice enough, so I wasn’t too offended when she reached for my phone and started scrolling and explaining the contract, telling me where to initial and sign.  She also told me that it would be 15% interest, just make sure I’m paid off by July, and there would be no interest. My mind saw 15% as she said it when she was hastily scrolling by.  Mind you, I had 6 children playing with a new puppy, trying to pay attention to everything going on.  I am embarrassed to say, July came and went, and I thought since the finance company was taking the money out of my bank account directly, they took out everything I owed.  However, the 15%, was actually 151%.  Yes folks, that is not a typo. I said 151%, just like the rum they took off shelves, because even they knew 151% is TOOOO MUCH!!! So…the pup should have cost $2000.00, after fighting with puppy love and the finance company, we threw in the towel and payed a total of appx. $5000.
Fifth excuse: I’m a moron who didn’t read the contract myself.

I ALSO TOOK OUR PUP TO THE VET WITHIN 3 DAYS OF GETTING HIM. HE HAD GIARDIA, AND THE VET THEY HAVE CARE FOR THE PUPPIES, GAVE HIM A SET OF SHOTS TOO EARLY, SO HE HAD TO BE REVACCINATED. PUPPY LOVE REFUNDED US $130.

I am shocked and saddened that a place like this still exists.  We all know it is wrong to promote puppy mills.  It’s mass breeding, poor conditions–for profit.  Look it up online.  It’s sickening.  And, Puppy “Love” is just perpetuating a horrible situation.  End of that discussion.

I bought a corgi puppy 26 years ago at a shop in the old Park Lane Mall. I was a kid and had no idea that I had just reinforced the puppy mill cycle.  That poor dog, who became Nellie, had been in the third tier of a stack of metal cages in the pet shop for 32 days.  For the rest of her life, she freaked out over metallic noises.  She had issues, to say the least, but I loved her. And she loved me.  The day I “rescued” her, I remember the look she gave me, laying on her side, absolutely resolute, from the cage.  I had to spring her.  The rest is an epic love affair.

Fast forward.  Today, I was in the paint store next door to Puppy “Love” and, like another reviewer, wandered in thinking they would have treats etc for sale.  (Of course, have a new dog-family since Nellie passed.).  Unbelievable.  There were puppies in small plexiglass units stacked on top of each other!  I asked the young clerk if the puppies actually lived in the boxes or were there other accommodations they spent time in…she told me, no, they stayed in the display cases and were occasionally walked.  My mouth dropped.  How does this exist today?  26 years later and all the education about puppy mills and the dogs available at shelters???? It has to be us consumers.  We perpetuate this.

Saddest thing……there was a beautiful, wise-eyed corgi puppy!  $3,000!!!!! No kidding.  $3,000.

Anybody up for a midnight raid at Puppy “Love”?  Maybe we could make a difference and we could save a bunch of puppies, especially another too-smart corgi, from suffering in a plastic box tonight!

I have never written a negative review about anything before, so if I am writing this then you know that it is really bad. If you are looking for an honest and decent place, I would say you are wasting your time at the store. I called and spoke to a lovely woman on the phone who quoted me a price for a dog I had seen previously and I told her I would be in over the weekend to show the dog to my father. She said she would not be there but would leave information with somebody working there or I should tell them to text her to get the price that we agreed on and that there was no problem, she was completely reachable, and When I asked this horrendously nasty girl who waited on me, as though it was a whole favor for her, with a chip on her shoulder attitude, she told me that she texted the woman but the woman did not answer her but she spoke to the owner and the owner quoted a price $600 more than I was quoted! I told her very clearly that I was quoted this price and that she needs to confirm it but she refused and we left the store. It was the most uncomfortable situation and I am hoping that you select a better store to purchase your puppy.  I don’t know why an owner would keep such a nasty sales girl on the floor who has undoubtedly done this and lost countless customers who have not written a review here.  It’s not only dishonest, it’s rude and disrespectful.

We got a puppy from puppy love who also came with complimentary giardia and kennel cough! Poor thing was very sick and it cost several hundred dollars to nurse her back to health! I noticed other reviewers stated that their dogs are AKC registered, but ours is only registered in the AKC companion program which also includes mixed breed dogs and is essentially a lesser registration! From our dogs paperwork only one parent is actually AKC registered so our puppy can not be!

I looked up the alleged breeder and found his website. He sells a massive variety of dogs and is located in puppy mill central- Missouri. I am not happy that puppy love sells WAY overpriced, unhealthy dogs that come from questionable places! Luckily our dog is very sweet and is now healthy, but this place is a disreputable joke and I don’t know how they are able to stay in business. Do yourself a huge favor and save money and hassle by finding a breeder to work with directly.

We purchased a dog back in October, we took the dog to the vet within the required 3 day period from when we got him. The Vet did the exam, and recommended that we do a fecal test as well. It came back that our newest family member had a significant Giardia 3+ infection. We medicated with the medication the vet gave us, fast forward 6 weeks to December, the puppy was still fighting with stomach upset and extremely loose stools. We contacted the Vet to get their recommendations (unsure if it could be the food or Giardia causing his diarrhea), they suggested a second round of treatment for Giardia. Two weeks later, we still had loose stools, and did a third round of antibiotics, anti-worm medication, probiotics, and a specialized diet. Now, we just finished the third round of antibiotics, and the dog still has a 3+ infection of Giardia.  When giving this information to Puppy Love, the owner accused us of not taking proper care of the dog!  She admitted that the dogs do not get tested for parasites like Giardia unless it gets reported to the vet (that checks on the dogs weekly), that there’s a problem with loose stools.  We have spent now more than $500 trying to get rid of this parasite. We are lucky that he’s a large breed dog, or he may not have survived so many rounds of strong antibiotics.

Excuse the continuance sentence but I am voice texting all of this for it is easier for me. For starters my 11 year old Shepherd passed away so my fiance thought it would be a great idea to go ahead and get another one for me I love the dog thing purchased German Shepherd very very disappointed in the contract agreement once I get home I called because I have questions about the contract all of a sudden the contract changes everything that they told me contradicts what was told to my fiance it seems like it was more of a car dealership experience just to get you in and out if I could give this place zero Stars I would I recommend continuing finding a breeder and having your dog shipped to you even though this is an AKC registered female German Shepherd I would never do business there again nor do I recommend this place to anybody oh and of course it’s clean because it’s brand new. And on another note I couldn’t get a straight answer out of him it says here that the contract is voided the puppies not examine within 3 days of purchase my purchase date was on 6-15 2017 but yet they made me keep it at their facility for another 48 hours before I could pick it up

Overall disappointed in our experience with this store. Being naive, first-time dog owners, me and my husband were ecstatic to find a French bulldog puppy at this store and quickly bought her after finding her. Everyone tells you not to buy from puppy stores, and now I know why. The employees literally know nothing. This is probably not their fault but they really don’t. They know the bare minimum about the animals they sell as well as owning an animal in general. Our puppy had a “fixed” umbilical hernia (not actually fixed, we had to get our puppy surgery), and was not up to date on her shots. This was quite surprising as she had been seen by a vet at All Creatures 3 times since being at the puppy store, with nothing being said or done about her hernia or being behind on her vaccines. They also do not give them the kennel cough vaccination, which does not make sense since they are being boarded with many other dogs. After finding out about our puppies health issue from another vet we had chosen, I called the store to tell them I was not pleased with being sold a dog and being told they are essentially “good to go” to find they need multiples vaccines and a surgery, as well as having to be fixed right away due to that health condition. They responded poorly and very defensively without listening to my frustration. She was VERY expensive and we of course did the financing through “Wags” which they advertise. Also very poor service and a poor system to finance through. We are still waiting for any response to any type of reimbursement for her surgery. There is more I could say but I’ll leave it at that. I definitely take responsibility for my ignorance in buying a puppy from a puppy store, but that also shouldn’t be taken advantage of. I do not think these type of stores should exist – they are not equipped to care for animals properly, even if for a shorter period of time. We do love our puppy (so much!!), but knowing what I know now, things would have happened differently.

Terrible place with terrible employees. If I could give 1/2 a star I would. The puppy we wanted to look at/hold was awoken. Well– most people know what puppies do when they wake up. Puppy Love employees, however, do not know. They took the puppy straight from its cage, walked out of the back room with me and then handed it to me, all the while the puppy was peeing on the employee, the floor and then when she handed the puppy to me, on my shoes. I was standing when they handed it to me, but they immediately told me I need to sit on the floor while holding it. That makes sense to me, for safety purposes, but did they expect me to sit in dog pee?? As one of the employees was cleaning up the mess with a  towel, and I was waiting to sit down with the puppy, my husband proceeded to ask the girl not cleaning up the mess to tell us what she knew about the breed of puppy we were looking at. She turned to him and told him that “he couldn’t treat her like that.” He of course was confused and asked her again and she again said he couldn’t treat her that way. She took the puppy from me and we left the store, extremely confused. I still don’t know why she said that to him, but I would not recommend buying a puppy from there.
